1) The Gacha System
In Genshin Impact, one method to unlock new playable characters is by using the gacha-system. You can use real money, i.e., microtransactions, or grind for in-game currencies (Prismogems and Stardusts) to buy wishes. Wishes in Genshin Impact are nothing but loot boxes that we use to unlock new playable characters and weapons. You can make a single wish or a stack of 10 wishes (this guarantees a 4-star weapon or a playable character).
2) Natural Game Progress
Not every Genshin Impact playable character can be unlocked by simply progressing in the game. With that said, the characters such as Lisa, Kaeya, and Amber, for instance, are unlocked through Archon quest completion. Before you set out to use the Gacha System to get new characters, see whether you can get the one you want through natural game progress.
3) Unlocking characters with Fate
MiHoYo hasn’t revealed whether there will be more free characters coming to Genshin Impact, so beyond the few available now, players will need to spend an in-game currency called Fate to unlock any additional characters. You can spend a Fate at any time in the game’s Wish menu to get a randomly drawn character or item. There are two different kinds of Fate — Acquaint Fate and Intertwined Fate — which can be used to unlock different characters. Acquaint Fate is the standard gacha currency, letting players unlock a Wish with set odds of earning one of many characters in the game. New players can also use Acquaint Fate on special Beginner’s Wishes, which let them pull two sets of 10 random items or characters at a 20% discount, meaning you’ll spend just 16 Acquaint Fates for a total of 20 items or characters. The first time a player uses the Beginners Wish, they’ll also be guaranteed to receive Noelle, a high-defense character who’s also a capable healer.
4) The Primogem currency
Primogems are the in-game currency of Genshin Impact. Players are rewarded with Primogems after they complete missions. In order to unlock new characters, players would first need to purchase Genesis Crystals using real-world money. Afterward, players need to convert these crystals into Primogems. Once converted, the Primogems would then be used to buy Fates, which are needed to obtain more Wishes. Players can either get Acquaint or Intertwined Fates.
